Sometimes You Gotta Stop and Smell The Tulips
Sometimes, when we get too busy, life has a way of reminding us of what is important. We all should set goals and have plans to achieve them. As we journey toward our goals, it is not a bad idea to stop and enjoy the scenery every once and a while. A walk with our spouse, talking with our children or spending time with our parents. I believe that these “side trips” pay dividends far greater than any of us can imagine. In our business, we set goals and implement plans to achieve them. We are also a local, family owned company, which allows us the opportunity to spend more time together than most. I have the privilege of working on water restoration and smoke restoration with my sons. I have watched my sons build and increase our commercial and residential carpet cleaning revenue. I have watched my daughters and son implement strategies in the commercial janitorial division of our company. All of these accomplishments that my children have achieved are certainly gratifying and just cause to make me a proud parent. However, even family business is not a substitute for family dinner, family vacation or just having the whole family enjoy a day at the beach together. I know that as I get older, time spent becomes more valuable than money spent.
